According to Greg Norman, golf will have to change

The Great White Shark is the nickname of legendary Greg Norman, you may remember that he won the Open two times. Now, he says that gold must accept the digital era in order to survive and attract new talents. The two suggested ideas are, casual music on the course and relaxing dress codes. In addition, he said that a person should play golf while he listen to a loud music, if he want to. Only traditionalist will say that they are against this.

A massive survey in the United Kingdom, proved that the number of people, laying golf every week is reduced from 757.900 to 730.300. In 2005 and 2006 (at the same period) this number was 889.100. This means that 158.800 regular golf players stopped playing golf.

Rory McIlroy, the world No.1, withdrew from the Open this year, because of ankle injury. A few months ago, he also said that golf need improvement and it must be speeded up, in order to attract younger players.

However, some changes have been made. Probably the most important change was with the Royal and Ancient Golf Club. In September, they accepted to admit women into the club. You may know that the Augusta did the same in 2012. Peter Dawson from the R&A said that this year, the number of rounds, players played this year has been increased.
The solution for this problem is to give more freedom to future players. If they want to play on 5 holes, let them. This is their choice. We will be able to see did these changes increased the number of future players.
